LED are not new light sources, however their small size and limited light output has until recently limited their use. More recently their light output has increased dramatically, improving luminous efficacy and for enhancing colour quality. This has expanded the application for LEDs, both as integrated lighting for a wide range of equipment and to some forms of building lighting.

Advantages of LED lighting:
• LED lighting has a high longevity, at approximately 100,000 hours.
• It runs cool
• They can change colour and offer fantastic flexability (approx 16.7 million colours).
• They are energy efficient
